Group 9 Blog post 2
Our group, which consists of myself (George Rodriguez), Alex Motter, Sean Torpey, and Matthew Tullus, has been making steady progress. As part of our project we plan on incorporating inclined planes as ramps upon which our marble will roll on its way to activating a circuit. We also have a pulley mechanism which will carry the golf ball upwards in order to gain potential energy for its launch to the target. On the note of energy transfers, we have the marble with potential energy of gravity at the top of the project which will transfer into kinetic energy as it goes down our inclined planes. That kinetic energy will be transferred into electric energy as the marble hits a switch to carry the golf ball upwards, giving the ball potential energy before that becomes kinetic energy on its way to the target, gaining a bit more potential energy as it goes up and off the ramp transferring that into kinetic energy as it hits the target. Sean has contributed with his ideas and techincal know-how. He has been an integral part of the design process and helped to build the base. Alex has cut his way through a lot of the PVC piping, constructing many of the pices and necessary parts for the project as well as contributions to the design. Matthew has been making the dream work with his offerings of practical methods in order to see out our designs as well as being a major contributor to the placing of pieces upon the project itself. Personally, I have been putting the smaller the smaller structures together to be placed into the larger project. Overall, everyone has been pulling their weight and the project has been benefiting from it.
