Group 20: Blog #3

Blog post day 3:
A. Changes that we have made to our original design are the placements of our pulley system to it originally being located in the back of the project to now the front of the project. Also we have changed the direction that the marble will take by adding a tube that extends the length of the back of the project and leads into the front. We have also changed the position of our screw. Originally it was mounted on the project but, now it's actually a whole separate piece that we made by attaching a wooden stick to our project and looping a rubber coil around it. Finally we added more marbles at various parts of the project like, after the rubber tubing wraps around the project it hits another plank that then sets off another marble. We figured with more marbles we would be able to reduce the chance of experimental error by not using the same marble throughout the whole project.

B. The challenges we have faced have been pretty limiting with the project itself. I'd say most of the challenges have steamed from the lack of drills and tools present in our working center so we are constantly looking for another pair of scissors, clamps, and or saws. Another challenge that we have faced is our group doesn't all have the same free periods or class periods so sometimes our ideas conflict with one another and the group doesn't flow as smoothly as when we are all together working with one another.

C. We are going to need to use the physics behind projectiles to help us determine how far we need to launch the ball and specifically what angle we need to use. Another concept of physics we will be using is circuits because, we will need to create a series circuit in order to light a bulb to let the spectator know that they golf ball is about to be launched
