Group 18 Blog Post #2
A) Which simple machines do you plan to incorporate and how do you plan to use them?
We plan to incorporate inclined planes, pulleys and a lever. The inclined planes will be used to make the marble travel and pick up speed. The pulley will be used to move the marble and launch the golf ball. Finally, the lever will be used to announce when the ball has reached its target by connecting a circuit to sound off a noise.
B) What energy transfers do you plan to incorporate and how will they be demostrated in your project? 
We plan to demonstrate a transfer of GPE into KE through the use of a funnel and an inclined plane. The same kinetic energy will cause the marble to hit a golf ball, which will in turn be affected by the elastic energy of a rubber band. Finally, the kinetic energy of the ball will cause electrical energy to be transferred through a circuit as the golf ball connects a lever, which act as a switch in the circuit.
C) Finally, how has each group member specifically contributed to the project since the start? 
We've contributed to the project. Bruno and I (Jose) worked on assembling the base of the project and adding to the original idea by extending the design. Henry and Andrew have worked on creating and editing the original design as we have moved along, improving on it whenever necessary. Jackson has picked up multiple essential items and came up with the idea to use plastic ramps provided to us to slow down the marble at the beginning, effectively allowing us to find a way to start the build.
